ParaFlow® chemistries have found utility in the recovery of valuable hydrocarbon from the processing of slop oil accumulated from refinery operations as well as in the processing of crude oil tank sludge.
ParaFlow HE-1507A and ParaFlow HE-508MM, when used at 4,000-5,000 ppm in a ratio of 3-4:1 respectively in conjunction with hydrocarbon diluent, and in some cases with water as the diluent, have demonstrated effectiveness in facilitating the separation and recovery of valuable hydrocarbon from contained sediment and water in refinery slop oil.
The inclusion of ParaFlow HE-FER-6000 in conjunction with ParaFlow HE-508MM and ParaFlow HE-1570A at 500 ppm, 500 ppm, and 1500 ppm respectively in a slop oil treatment test case @ 90°C over 5 days residence time resulted in the following:
- Water reduction in the recovered oil from 13% to < 0.1%.
- Iron reduction in the recovered oil from 5000 ppm to < 50 ppm.
- Effective paraffin solubilization.
- Rag layer elimination.
ParaFlow HE-6400, when used in conjunction with an appropriate diluent to facilitate thorough chemistry incorporation has also shown effectiveness in the above applications.
